SEA KAYAKING TRIP ITINERARY

INSIDE PASSAGE LODGE SEA KAYAKING
5-DAY ADVENTURE VACATION

DAY PRIOR TO TRIP DEPARTURE DATE

Arrive by air or road to Port McNeill or Telegraph Cove , British Columbia, on the northeastern end of Vancouver Island.

DAY ONE

Sea Kayaking Lodge Based AdventuresArrive to the Farewell Harbour Marine Resort by floatplane or morning motor boat shuttle from Telegraph Cove. Once you are settled into your room meet your trip companions over a hearty lunch in the lodge's cozy dining room. Early in the afternoon we will be off for your introductory sea kayaking trip in the Broughton Archipelago. This area of relatively protected waterways offers an excellent opportunity to get comfortable with your sea kayaks, and develop those basic paddling skills. Returning to the Farewell Harbour lodge late in the afternoon there will be time to become familiar with your new home before gathering for afternoon hors d' oeuvres.

DAYS TWO - FOUR

Day trips from the lodge, exploring the maze of channels and islands that make up the Brought Archipelago, and Blackfish Sound. While paddling you will enjoy the wonders of seashore intertidal life, searching for Bald eagle nests and forest wildlife on the beaches . While in the waters of Blackfish Sound opportunities exist to see Orca whales, Humpback and Minke whales. If conditions are right we will attempt a ‘night paddle’ to experience the incredible glowing, bioluminescent waters.

Your days end with relaxing in the comfortable Farewell Harbour lodge, savoury dinners prepared by the lodge's chef and guaranteed restful nights. Typically we plan a day trip to the village of Alert Bay on Cormorant Island to visit the local First Nations museum and cultural centre, visit the galleries and shops of local artists, and above all, enjoy the local hospitality.

DAY FIVE

Farewell Harbour Marine Resort - Hot TubA leisurely morning breakfast taking in the final moments of your stay at Farewell Harbour. After packing our belongings we will return by boat to Telegraph Cove. Once we have unloaded and stowed our gear, we will enjoy lunch at the Telegraph Cove Killer Whale Café. Then we are off to board one of Stubbs Island Whale watching boats for a 4-hour marine mammal and wildlife viewing cruise.

Upon returning to Telegraph Cove there will be time to visit the Johnstone Strait Whale Interpretive Centre (formally known as the ‘Bones Project’). The Interpretive Centre was founded to increase public awareness of the biology of marine mammals and human threats to their populations. The centre boasts a fascinating collection of articulated marine mammal skeletons.

After 'farewells' guests can return to prearranged accommodations at Telegraph Cove Resort or Port McNeill.
